Ways We Help
Teletherapy tools and techniques are developed at the Voice Disorders and Technology Lab at Hofstra University to privide treatment in international settings for speech and communication disorders.
The project is developed within a partnership with the United Nations Department of Social Affairs (DESA) contrinuting to implement SDG 3: "To ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages"
Teletherapy
- Through a telematic platform for speech pathology care, assess children for articulation and voice disorders, for motor speech disorders and autism
- Provide therapy for articulation, motor speech disorders, voice disorders and autism, by teletherapy
- Provide specially adapted AAC devices so the children can practice the exercises in their language with their caregivers
Capacity building
Following recommendations by the American Speech and Hearing Association and the WHO, we will start a pilot training program for local health providers, teachers, parents and other personnel, who could be administering speech pathology care in the future. Interactions with hospitals and other health care facilities will be established
